Discovering Adventure and Tranquility

Maison Cachée allows you to be as busy or as relaxed as you wish to be.

You could easily wile away the hours in the private courtyard garden – but there is so much to see and do ………

Dinan is a walkers’ and cyclists’ delight. You can head south down the Rance to Lehon on the wonderful riverside path past the open-air public swimming pool, or venture in the opposite direction towards Lyvet and the lagoon which teams with bird life.

There are a whole host of regional costal walks taking in sandy beaches or cliff tops. Cap Frehel, Fort la Latte, Cancale, Saint Suliac and the wonderful St Briac-sur-Mer are all stunning. At St Briac you can have a dip, walk along the coast next to the cliff-top golf course.

A cycling greenway can take you through the fields and villages to Dinard with is wonderful galleries and shops – and a fantastic see level coastal walk.

For keener pedallers head north for some inspiring coastal routes where sweeping roads bring a new beach and a fresh view at every corner, east to Combourg which its lake and chateau, or south to Hede and the ladder of locks.

You can catch the boat along the Rance towards Dinard and St Malo to have a different view of the Rance which its picturesque waterside villages. The walled city of St Malo is really worth a visit.

If you fancy being your own captain, there are electric boats available to hire on the port.

Markets are a staple of French life – and the area does not disappoint. The Dinan market takes place on a Thursday morning at Place Duguesclin and allows you to purchase a whole host of local fresh produce (and a bed and double glazing should they take your fancy!).

The food market in Rennes on a Saturday is staggering in its size and scale. The Marchés des Lices has been taking place every Saturday for more than 400 hundred years and sees 300 or so traders set up their stalls in attracting thousands of locals and visitors. If you are a lover of seafood, you will struggle to find more choice and variety anywhere in the country.

At the other end of the scale, nearby Plouer-sur-Rance has a small and charming market every Sunday morning.

If you are a fan of French antiquities, head to the market square in Dinard on the first Sunday of the month – you will not be disappointed.
